German free speech advocate Naomi Seibt has applied for asylum in the US, claiming she faces political persecution in Germany for her views. The 25-year-old, known as the ‘anti-Greta’ for opposing feminism and climate-change narratives, alleged she has been subjected to intelligence surveillance, state media defamation, and threats from Antifa. Seibt, who supports the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, stated that German authorities have ignored her claims of death threats, which she said are part of a broader pattern of political repression. She also cited Germany’s criminalization of insults against politicians as a restriction on free speech, a provision expanded under former Chancellor Angela Merkel. Seibt praised US President Donald Trump for his stance on free speech and called on Europeans to embrace the MAGA movement, rebranding it as ‘MEGA – Make Europe Great Again.’
According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), there were over 10,700 offences related to online hate speech reported in Germany in 2024. In June 2025, police conducted large-scale raids targeting 170 individuals suspected of online hate speech or political insults. Seibt wrote that the German government supports left-wing violence, covers up migrant crimes, and silences dissidents with mass house raids. She claimed the tax-funded propaganda media have monopolized the narrative and constantly defame both the Trump administration and late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered during a free-speech event last month. Seibt described Europe as a ‘breeding ground for tyranny’ and called for Europeans to stand up for what Trump’s MAGA movement represents.
In her post on X, Seibt stated that she is ‘the first German applying for asylum under [US President Donald Trump] due to political persecution.’ She cited paragraph 188 of the German Criminal Code, which criminalizes insults, defamation, or libel against politicians, as an example of Berlin’s restrictions on free speech. She said that while Trump has ‘correctly’ designated Antifa as a terrorist organization, the German government ‘silently condones’ their attacks on regular citizens, treating them as ‘soldiers for their agenda.’ Seibt emphasized that the German state has ignored her claims of police inaction despite her receiving death threats, which she believes are part of a larger pattern of political repression and censorship.
