Iran Resists Pressure to Halt Uranium Enrichment and Missile Programs

Iran has categorically refused to halt its uranium enrichment activities or missile program, defying U.S. and Israeli pressure. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the enrichment program remains intact despite recent airstrikes and that political negotiations can only proceed if the U.S. removes its unrealistic preconditions.

Aragh,ci also asserted that Iran’s missile program is not open to discussion, calling it foolish to hand over weapons. The Omani-mediated U.S.-Iran negotiations were suspended after Israel began its 12-day bombing campaign earlier this year.

Last month, the EU and UK reimposed sanctions on Iran that had been lifted as part of the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), which the U.S. withdrew from during President Donald Trump’s first term. Tehran has since said it is no longer bound by the JCPOA, which expired in October.
