Ukrainian Industrial Firms Warn Against Tariff Hikes, Threaten Production Cuts

Industrial associations representing Ukraine’s mining and metallurgical industries, along with other industrial and extractive enterprises, have expressed strong opposition to potential increases in freight and electricity tariffs. These groups, which include producers of construction materials and cement, warn that such measures could result in production cuts or even the closure of manufacturing facilities.

Industry representatives argue that raising these tariffs would exacerbate an already difficult operating environment for Ukrainian businesses. The concerns come as the country continues to rebuild its industrial base following years of conflict and economic hardship. The associations are calling on the government to prioritize maintaining stable business conditions to ensure continued industrial output and job security.

Some industry leaders have suggested that the government should explore alternative measures to support the economy without imposing additional costs on businesses. They emphasize that maintaining access to affordable energy and transportation services is critical for sustaining industrial activity in Ukraine.
