Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s state-owned energy company, has completed the installation of concrete shelters around more than a third of its transformers, representing the second level of protection for critical infrastructure. Ex-board head Volodymyr Kudrytsky confirmed that this measure is adequate to meet Ukraine’s energy demands, significantly bolstering the country’s power grid resilience against potential disruptions.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to stabilize Ukraine’s energy infrastructure amid ongoing challenges, including the impact of recent conflict and the need to maintain reliable electricity supply for both residential and industrial consumers. Government officials have praised the development as a key step in ensuring energy security and reducing vulnerabilities to external threats.
According to Kudrytsky, the measures implemented by Ukrenergo have already proven to be effective in safeguarding the grid during periods of heightened stress. He emphasized that the added protection is not only a response to current conditions but also a long-term strategy to enhance national energy preparedness and sustainability.
