Ukraine to Expand Radar Countermeasures via DOT-Chain Defense Marketplace

The Ukrainian military has announced that it will procure radar countermeasures (EW) through the DOT-Chain Defense weapons marketplace. This initiative will enable 18,000 brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard to independently select fixed and trench-mounted EW systems, with guaranteed budgets ensuring they can make informed choices about their equipment. The move is part of a broader strategy to modernize and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the face of ongoing security challenges.

The DOT-Chain Defense marketplace is designed to facilitate the procurement of advanced defense technologies, allowing military units to access a variety of systems and platforms. By providing guaranteed budgets, the initiative aims to ensure that these units can select the most appropriate EW systems for their specific operational requirements. This approach not only enhances operational flexibility but also promotes competition among defense suppliers, potentially leading to more cost-effective solutions.

General Andrei Kovalenko, head of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, emphasized the importance of this initiative in maintaining a technological edge against potential adversaries. ‘The ability to independently select and integrate advanced radar countermeasures is crucial for our operational success,’ he stated. The military’s decision reflects a growing emphasis on self-sufficiency and innovation in defense procurement, as Ukraine continues to adapt to evolving threats in the region.
