The European Union has launched its ‘Democracy Shield’ initiative to counter hybrid attacks on elections and press freedom. The plan includes a new hub to tackle disinformation and strengthen democratic institutions. Critics, however, argue that the initiative lacks sufficient measures to effectively address the complex challenges of modern disinformation campaigns and foreign interference.
