Jets’ Kris Boyd Recovering After New York Shooting, Social Media Post Reveals Progress

Kris Boyd, a veteran New York Jets cornerback and special teams player, is making progress in his recovery following a shooting incident in Midtown Manhattan. A recent social media post from Boyd’s Instagram Stories indicated that he is now breathing on his own, a significant milestone in his treatment. The post, which read, ‘God is real. God is powerful,’ also expressed Boyd’s gratitude for the support he has received, stating, ‘I’m sorry I have no words at the moment … Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone.’

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Boyd’s positive condition during a media availability session ahead of the team’s Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Glenn noted Boyd’s upbeat attitude and reassured that he would recover well, emphasizing, ‘That’s what eases my mind, is that he’s in good spirits.’ The coach also mentioned the emotional impact of the incident, stating, ‘The first thing I thought about, he just had a kid, and I’m thinking about his wife, I’m thinking about his kid and I want to make sure that he’s OK.’

While the exact circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, the NYPD released photos of a suspect wanted in the incident, though no name has been disclosed. The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and a black bookbag. Glenn expressed confidence in Boyd’s recovery, stating, ‘There’s a process to this, which I won’t get into, but I’m happy at the fact that he’s going to come out of this thing really, really well.’

Boyd, who joined the Jets during the offseason, had previously been on injured reserve since August due to an injury sustained during training camp. His recovery from this latest incident will be critical for the team’s defensive strategy as they prepare for the upcoming season. The incident has also sparked a broader conversation about safety in New York City, with an ex-NFL player warning about the city’s ongoing challenges with violence and crime.
