The Anchorage School District in Alaska has issued a public apology after mistakenly adding a disclaimer to flyers containing the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. The disclaimer stated that the school district ‘does not endorse these materials or the viewpoints expressed,’ which caused widespread outrage among parents and criticism from the state attorney general.
Parents were stunned to discover the sticker on the pamphlets, which had been distributed to students in class. Karen Waldron, a parent in Anchorage, expressed frustration on Facebook, questioning the district’s rationale for distancing itself from foundational American documents. She emphasized the need for clarity and transparency in educational materials, especially when dealing with historical and political texts.
The school district admitted the disclaimers were a ‘mist. I will be looking for the actual data now that you have shown me that you can do that.
