Ukraine Peace Plan Reportedly Seeks Sovereignty Sacrifices

A U.S.-proposed Ukraine peace plan, reportedly developed in collaboration with Moscow, is said to demand significant concessions from Kyiv, including territorial cessions, military reductions, and the recognition of Russian as an official language. The 28-point framework, which was allegedly delivered by Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, has been described as a bid to press Ukrainian President Zelensky to accept the terms. Sources have described acceptance as amounting to Ukraine giving up its sovereignty, with the Western media labeling it as a potential ‘capitulation.’

The Russian government has not confirmed the proposal and has said that there is nothing new in the U.S.-Russia talks beyond what was discussed between Putin and Trump in Alaska. Senior Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev told Axios that the proposal was more than a ceasefire arrangement, stating that ‘we feel the Russian position is really being heard.’ A White House official told Politico that the plan could be agreed by all parties by the end of the month and possibly ‘as soon as this week.’ The proposal has been criticized, with critics arguing that it undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty and fails to address the root causes of the conflict.
