TP-Link, a California-based networking company, has filed a lawsuit against Netgear, alleging that the competitor orchestrated a smear campaign to falsely claim its technology is infiltrated by Beijing. This campaign, according to TP-Link, could lead to a sales loss of over $1 billion. The suit, filed in Delaware federal court, claims that Netgear’s actions violate a 2,024 settlement agreement from a patent dispute. The settlement, which involved TP-Link paying Netgear $135 million, included a clause preventing public companies from disparaging their rivals.
