Teen Arrested for Howard University Homecoming Shooting That Injured Five

Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old suspect, Kaevaughn Dudley, in connection with a shooting at Howard University’s homecoming event in Washington, D.C., which left five individuals injured. According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Dudley was taken into custody on November 14 and faces multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder while armed. The incident occurred during a Yard Fest event on October 24, where Dudley allegedly fired multiple shots at a group of individuals, resulting in injuries to several people, including a 38-year-old man and a 13-year-old.

Investigators recovered three handguns at the scene, including a privately made firearm, a Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0, and a Glock 19. The arrest followed an investigation that included reviewing numerous surveillance cameras and hours of footage. Dudley is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on December 18. The victims include a Morgan State University student who is paralyzed from the chest down after being shot. The incident has raised concerns about campus safety, especially with the rise in violence targeting students at college campuses.

Officials initially arrested two 19-year-olds for carrying a pistol without a license, but later determined they were not directly involved in the shooting.
