**Terron Armstead Transitioning to Voice for Injured NFL Players**
Terron Armstead, ex-NFL offensive tackle, is transitioning to a vocal advocate for current players facing similar injury challenges, sharing his personal journey with chronic knee issues that led to his retirement.
Armstead, who spent 12 years in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins, has decided to step away from the game after a career spanning over two decades. The 33-year-old athlete revealed that a series of persistent knee injuries, which significantly impacted his ability to play, ultimately led to his retirement.
He has not played since the age of 5, making this the first time in 28 years he will not be participating in the sport he has loved for so long. Now, Armstead is focusing on becoming a voice for current NFL players dealing with similar injury-related challenges. He emphasized the importance of sharing his personal experiences to provide support and understanding for fellow athletes.
“Now that I’m done, I would like to start sharing more of my stories because there’s players that are actively playing who are dealing with similar situations,” he told Fox News Digital at Fanatics Fest. Armstead’s insights highlight the immense physical toll of the NFL season, especially on positions like his, where injuries are common and recovery is often prolonged.
During an appearance on the Nightcap Show, he detailed how his knee injuries were so severe that he couldn’t walk after games, requiring medication just to manage the pain. “After a game on Sunday, I wouldn’t be able to walk on my own until Wednesday, Thursday. So, I was only able to play under the pain meds. I couldn’t put any pressure on my knee, so it was like, I can’t keep doing that to myself,” he said.
Although he may not be returning to the field, Armstead remains dedicated to the sport and aims to make an impact by supporting current players and sharing his knowledge and experience. He expressed a mix of emotions about his decision, noting it’s both bittersweet and exciting as he looks forward to life without football.
