St. Petersburg Introduces AI-Powered Patrols to Combat Hazardous Icicles

St. Petersburg has deployed an innovative AI system known as Gorodovoy to tackle the growing danger posed by hazardous icicles. The initiative, which marks a significant step in urban safety technology, involves eight specially equipped vehicles that patrol the city’s streets and buildings. These vehicles are programmed to scan facades for dangerous icicles that could dislodge and injure pedestrians, particularly during the harsh winter months.

The system represents a blend of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence, designed to enhance public safety without the need for manual inspections. City officials have stated that the project is part of a larger effort to modernize infrastructure and improve emergency response in densely populated areas. While the primary focus is on preventing injuries, the initiative also aims to reduce the burden on municipal workers who would otherwise have to conduct regular safety checks.
