President Donald Trump unveiled a ‘reverse migration’ plan during a late-night holiday post on his Truth Social platform, promising to stop immigration from ‘Third World Countries’ and roll back policies from the Biden administration. The plan includes halting all migration from these nations, revoking what he claims are ‘millions’ of Biden-era admissions, and removing foreign nationals he deems as security risks or incompatible with Western Civilization. Trump argued that the U.S. immigration system has been overwhelmed and that his approach would allow the system to ‘fully recover.’ He also pledged to end federal benefits for noncitizens, denaturalize migrants accused of undermining ‘domestic tranquility,’ and expand deportations.
The proposal comes after a shooting incident near the White House, where two National Guard members were attacked. One of the wounded guardsmen, Sarah Beckstrom from West Virginia, died following the incident, which Trump acknowledged in his post. The second wounded guard, Andrew Wolfe, is still fighting for his life, and the suspected shooter, Rahmanullah Lakan, is in serious condition. Lakanwal entered the U.S. legally in 2021 under humanitarian parole as part of Operation Allies Welcome, a Biden administration initiative that facilitated the return of Afghan nationals following the U.S. withdrawal. Trump used the attack to underscore his criticism of Biden’s immigration policies and to rally support for his ‘reverse migration’ agenda. His post concluded with a warning to critics, stating that those who ‘hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for’ would not remain in the U.S. long.
