Border czar Tom Homan has asserted that under the Trump administration, the Border Patrol encountered a historic low of 95 illegal immigrants in a single day, marking the lowest number ever recorded. Homan, who is seen as a staunch supporter of Trump’s immigration policies, claimed that the situation has become so controlled that Border Patrol officers are now experiencing boredom due to the lack of apprehensions.
He contrasted these numbers with the administration of President Joe Biden, which he claimed released over 10,000 illegal immigrants daily. Homan emphasized that the Trump administration’s strategy has led to the most secure border in U.S. history. He called for the passage of the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ to continue this successful crackdown, stating that it represents the ‘biggest deportation operation the American people voted for.’
Homan’s figures highlight a consistent trend since Trump’s return to the Oval Office in January. In April, he had previously highlighted the administration’s shockingly low number of illegal immigrants released, with only nine compared to hundreds under Biden. Homan explained that the small number of releases was due to unique circumstances, including four individuals being material witnesses in a criminal investigation and one being a humanitarian case.
However, the situation on the border is not entirely one-sided. There were instances of high illegal immigration, such as on December 22, 2023, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection data indicated 4,832 illegal immigrants were released that day alone. The CBP One app, which encouraged self-deportation through the CBP Home app, was also a part of these efforts, with 1,400 releases reported on that same day.
