Lawmakers in Minnesota and their families were targeted in a brazen attack as accused shooter Vance Boelter, 57, allegedly opened fire on former state House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, as well as State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Boelter, who impersonated a police officer using a modified Ford SUV equipped with police lights, was identified as the suspect in the shootings that occurred in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, Minnesota. After a two-day manhunt, law enforcement captured Boelter, whose possession of an arsenal including multiple AK-47s and a detailed hit list was discovered in his vehicle. The hit list, which included 7,0 names of public officials, abortion advocates, and healthcare facilities, raised concerns over potential political violence. Former congressman Dean Phillips confirmed his name was on the list, urging action to prevent further attacks. Boelter faces four felony murder charges with a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
