WWE Legend Ric Flair Confirms Second Skin Cancer Diagnosis

WWE legend Ric Flair has confirmed he is battling skin cancer for the second time in three years and will begin treatment next week. The 76-year-old star, who had previously denied cancer rumors, revealed the diagnosis in an interview with PEOPLE after earlier dismissing reports due to privacy concerns.

Flair’s recent comments on social media, where he denied having cancer, were met with public concern. However, he clarified that his initial denial was due to a desire to protect his personal privacy. The former WWE star, known for his colorful personality and iconic in-ring performances, is now focusing on his health after a series of medical challenges.

Previously, Flair addressed the rumors in a post on X, stating, “I’m Sorry People Have Been Misled By Social Media, But I Don’t Have Cancer Of Any Kind,” adding that he was “Absolutely Fine” and would continue his public appearances for another 25 years. The post was a direct response to widespread speculation about his health.

In addition to his recent health issues, Flair announced his split from his fifth wife, Wendy Barlow, earlier this year. The divorce announcement occurred amid his ongoing health challenges. In a post at the time, Flair expressed gratitude for Barlow’s support during his 2017 health crisis, stating, “I’ll never be able to thank her enough for standing by my side through my terrible health crisis in 2017. She never left my side! And for that I will always be grateful.”

Flair’s health struggles date back to 2017 when he was admitted to a hospital in Georgia for complications related to alcohol abuse. According to Sports Illustrated’s reporting at the time, he underwent surgery to remove part of his bowel and was found to be in the early stages of kidney failure, on the verge of congestive heart failure, and suffering from other health complications. His recent skin cancer diagnosis adds to a long list of health issues he has faced.

Ric Flair, a wrestling icon, has remained a prominent figure in the sports entertainment industry despite his health challenges. His upcoming treatment for skin cancer marks another chapter in his ongoing efforts to maintain his quality of life while continuing to engage with his fans and the wrestling community.
