Alex Bowman, a prominent figure in the NASCAR Cup Series, found himself in a severe crash during the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. The incident unfolded during Lap 67 when Cole Custer’s car became uncontrolled, resulting in a collision with both Daniel Suarez and Bowman.
Bowman was the first to be struck, with his vehicle crashing into the wall head-on. Despite the impact, he was able to exit his car independently. The crash prompted the race to be temporarily halted as safety crews worked to secure the area and ensure all affected drivers were safely off the track.
After the incident, Bowman spoke to Amazon Prime Video from the infield care center, expressing his frustration and describing the crash as one of the worst he had ever experienced. He mentioned the incident being the result of a loose car or a collision from another vehicle, but noted that once the collision occurred, he had little to no control over the situation.
Despite the incident, Bowman was able to complete the race, finishing in 36th place. However, his recent performance has been problematic, with four finishes outside the top 20 in the last five races. The crash was another setback for his team, which has faced a tough stretch of competition recently.
